Troubleshooting
===============================================================
Installing the game
If AutoRun doesn't start once you have put the game in the CD-ROM
drive, launch the autorun file: CD-ROM:\Autorun.exe.
Safe Mode
Safe mode can be accessed if/after the game has crashed. It is
provided as a means of isolating the cause of problems you may have
with sound or video card drivers. When launching with safe mode, you
can disable 3D video accelerator support or hardware support for sound
cards in its menu. Note that while operating Tactical Ops: Assault on Terror
is possible with software-only rendering, the game is designed to use a 3D
accelerator.
DirectX 8.0a
It is highly recommended that you install DirectX 8.0a from your
Tactical Ops: Assault on Terror install disk as DirectX 8.0a is known
to resolve a number of video card and other issues.
Video Card Drivers
Some video card drivers do not support Direct3D correctly. Typical
problems that may occur with these drivers include:
- Crashing on starting up
- Crashing when changing video resolutions
- Corrupted textures
- Garbage artifacts on screen
- Unexpected bright flashing on screen
- Unusually slow performance.
The solution is to go to your video card manufacturer's website and
download updated drivers for your card. It is highly recommended that,
given an option, you download and install Microsoft-certified (WHQL) drivers.

Hardware Compatibility
================================================================
Direct 3D Support
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The following 3D accelerators are partially supported with Direct 3D Support:
- 3D Blaster Savage 4, Windows 98 SE, driver 4.11.01.2104: the menus are blurry but
the game play is fine.
- Millenium G200, Windows 98 SE, driver 4.12.01.2730: the game is slow but playable.
Higher resolutions have slower frame rate.

Higher resolutions have slower frame rate.
- Monster 3DII, Windows 98 SE, drivers 4.10.01.0205 and 4.11.01.1151: the default
resolution is 512x384, which causes the text in some menus to appear distorted.
When the user attempts to change the resolution to 1024x768, the resolution automatically
reverts to the default resolution.
- Starfighter 3d PCI, Windows 98 SE, driver 4.10.01.0323: the game plays in a window.
- Stealth II G460, Windows 98 SE, driver 4.10.01.1400: the game will only play in
a window. The game resolutions are only 640x480 and 800x600.

resolution or higher.
- Viper V770 Ultra TNT 2, Windows 98 SE, drivers 4.12.01.0368 and 4.13.01.2183:
in 800x600x and above resolutions, during lots of action (multiple bots, smoke),
the game suffers from a slow, but the frame rate is playable . If the user escapes from
the game play, much of the menu text and graphics, as well as the mouse cursor, are missing.
- Viper II S3 Savage 2000, Windows XP, driver 5.01.2600.000: the game plays in a window.
Brightness is very dark. It doesn't support resolutions of 1024x768 and above.
- Viper V770 Ultra TNT2, Windows XP, driver 5.13.01.2183: in 800x600 and above resolutions,
during lots of action (multiple bots, smoke), the game suffers from a slow, but the

the following error occurs: "This application has failed because glide2x.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem." However, the game works after this,
regardless. In all resolutions, the game is displayed in a window. Only 640x480 and 800x600
are listed as available resolutions.
The following 3D accelerators are not supported with Direct 3D Support:
- SiS6326, Windows 98 SE, driver 4.12.01.0368: the Main Menu interface appears
with garbled text.

black screen in Direct 3D Support & S3 MeTaL for Windows modes. However, the game does
run in Software Rendering mode only.
- Viper V550 TNT, Windows 98 SE, drivers 4.12.01.0368 and 4.13.01.2183: if the user escapes
from game play, much of the menu text and graphics, as well as the mouse cursor, are missing.
- Viper V550 TNT, Windows XP: the mouse cursor disappears behind menu boxes, causing the
user to be unable to start the game.
Processors
With the AMD K6 200MHz, there is a low frame rate in all resolutions, during game play.
The frame rate is very low but playable when there is lots of action onscreen.
